Position: Payroll Specialist (Immediate Start)
Location: North York, ON (Hybrid)
Salary: $45–$55 per hour
Job Type: 1-month Contract with Potential for Extension

Our client, a leading organization in the retirement living sector, is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations across multiple locations. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, this role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while providing exceptional support to employees and management.

Responsibilities:

- Process payroll for multiple employee groups, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
- Maintain employee payroll records, earnings, deductions, and entitlement balances.
- Administer benefits, RRSPs, garnishments, union dues, and payroll adjustments.
- Prepare payroll reconciliations, journal entries, remittances, and year-end reporting.
- Manage payroll system updates, policy changes, and process improvements.
- Respond to payroll inquiries and provide guidance to employees and managers.
- Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, employment standards, and collective agreements.

Qualifications:

- Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- PCP or CPM designation seen as an asset.
- 5+ years of payroll processing experience.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and employment standards.
- Experience with unionized payroll and collective agreement administration.
- Proficiency with Ceridian Dayforce or similar payroll systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with high attention to detail.
