We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Senior Manager, Accounting & Finance to oversee our client’s accounting and finance function while leading a team of up to 10 employees. This position will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, month-end and year-end close processes, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, internal controls, and providing financial insights to support business strategy and decision-making.

Responsibilities:

- Establish, implement, and continuously enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal control frameworks.

- Provide leadership and oversight to the accounting team, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and General Ledger functions.
- Direct accounting activities across multiple legal entities and/or business lines or units, ensuring standardized processes and controls.
- Oversee accounts payable operations to ensure timely vendor payments and optimization of available discounts.
- Monitor accounts receivable performance, collections, and overall cash flow management.
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll administration.
- Review and oversee the completion of bank reconciliations.
- Manage debt obligations, including payment schedules and compliance with lending covenants.
- Maintain and oversee the integrity of the chart of accounts and financial record-keeping systems.
- Ensure appropriate controls and safeguards are in place for all financial transactions.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Coordinate the preparation and submission of annual corporate financial reporting requirements.
- Develop, track, and analyze key financial and operational performance indicators.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting activities.
- Review budget-to-actual results, identify variances, and provide actionable recommendations.
- Conduct financial analysis related to pricing strategies, profitability, capital expenditures, contracts, and business initiatives.
- Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors and manage the annual audit process.
- Ensure compliance with all tax filings, payroll remittances, regulatory reporting requirements, and Workers’ Compensation obligations.
- Contribute to departmental goals and participate in special projects and other responsibilities as required.
- Champion a culture of health and safety by ensuring adherence to company policies and legislative requirements.

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.

CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional designation completed or nearing completion.
- Experience within transportation, logistics, warehousing, third-party logistics (3PL), or similar operational environments, including both asset-based and non-asset-based business models.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and analysis, and cost control.
- Strong capabilities in financial modeling, pricing analysis, margin improvement, and profitability management.
- Previous experience overseeing multiple legal entities, business units, divisions, or operating locations.
- Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Hands-on leader with a collaborative and customer-service-focused management style.
- Proven people leadership experience managing on-site teams of five or more employees.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/WMS/Accounting systems for midsize companies
- Experience working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), or comparable operational platforms is a strong asset.
