Location: Toronto, Hybrid – 1–2 days onsite per week
Salary: $95–$100/hour (incorporated)
Job Type: 6-month contract (strong likelihood of extension)
Hours: 37.5 hours/week

We are partnering with a large enterprise organization undergoing significant infrastructure modernization and are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer with deep expertise in Linux infrastructure, DevOps automation, and enterprise platforms. This is a hands-on engineering opportunity where you'll play a key role in modernizing critical infrastructure, automating enterprise environments, and supporting cloud-based technologies.

What You'll Be Working On

You'll be involved in several enterprise infrastructure modernization initiatives, including Nutanix platform upgrades and virtualization migrations, helping transition critical workloads onto modern infrastructure while ensuring high availability and minimal business disruption.

You'll also support the modernization of legacy Linux/Unix environments through infrastructure automation, system migrations, and operational improvements. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you'll help automate deployments, streamline infrastructure management, and enhance the reliability and scalability of enterprise platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, build, and maintain infrastructure automation solutions
- Support Nutanix infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and ongoing administration
- Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks
- Automate server provisioning, configuration management, and patching
- Administer and support large-scale Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments
- Implement infrastructure security controls and compliance automation
- Support middleware, web servers, and application platforms
- Configure monitoring, logging, and operational alerting
- Build and support CI/CD pipelines
- Troubleshoot production, infrastructure, and performance issues
- Create and maintain technical documentation
- Collaborate with Agile delivery teams
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation

Required Skills & Experience:

- 8–10+ years of Linux Systems Engineering experience
- Expert-level administration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
- Hands-on experience with Nutanix infrastructure (AHV and/or enterprise Nutanix environments) is required
- Experience supporting infrastructure migrations and platform modernization projects involving Nutanix
- Strong Ansible automation experience
- Advanced Bash and/or KornShell (KSH) scripting
- Enterprise infrastructure lifecycle management and patching
- Experience supporting large-scale production environments
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
