Our client, a well-established non-profit organization located in downtown Toronto, is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join their collaborative Finance team. About the Role

Reporting to the Manager, Finance, you'll be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of a semi-monthly payroll for 200+ employees while administering employee benefits, including a registered pension plan. You'll work closely with both Finance and Human Resources to ensure payroll compliance, maintain data integrity, and provide exceptional support to employees.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Administration
- Process full-cycle semi-monthly payroll for salaried, hourly, and contract employees

- Maintain payroll records and process employee changes, including promotions, salary adjustments, and terminations
- Reconcile and remit statutory deductions in accordance with legislative requirements
- Prepare and issue Records of Employment (ROEs)
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a professional and timely manner
- Complete year-end payroll processing and reporting
- Maintain accurate employee payroll information within the HRIS

Benefits Administration
- Administer employee benefit programs, including pension, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, and health and dental benefits

- Process benefit deductions and maintain accurate benefit records

Reporting & Accounting
- Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, analyses, and variance reports

- Prepare, balance, and upload payroll journal entries
- Ensure accurate labour costing and allocation across cost centres

Systems & Support
- Maintain payroll systems and assist with system upgrades and enhancements

- Provide guidance and support to employees and leaders on payroll policies and processes

What We're Looking For:

- Post-secondary diploma or degree
- PCP designation preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 3 years of payroll and benefits experience within a non-profit or healthcare environment
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, Employment Standards, and CRA regulations
- Experience with HRIS/payroll systems (UltiPro is considered an asset)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office
- Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
