Our client, a leading healthcare organization, is seeking a strategic Director, Payroll to lead the delivery, transformation, and continuous improvement of payroll operations across a large, complex organization.
This newly created leadership role is ideal for an experienced payroll professional who has successfully led payroll functions within a large, multi-site, unionized environment. You'll provide strategic direction while overseeing payroll operations, driving process improvements, and leading a high-performing team through growth and transformation.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead the organization's payroll strategy, operations, and governance across multiple provinces.- Oversee complex, full-cycle payroll operations for unionized and non-unionized employees.- Drive payroll transformation, process improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives.- Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, collective agreements, and internal controls.- Partner with HR, Finance, Operations, and Labour Relations to support business objectives.- Leverage Workday and other technologies to enhance payroll processes, reporting, and operational efficiency.- Monitor payroll metrics and KPIs to drive performance and improve service delivery.- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing payroll team while fostering a collaborative and service-focused culture.
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of progressive payroll experience, including leadership responsibilities.- Proven experience leading payroll operations within a large, complex, multi-site organization.- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, compliance, and payroll governance.- Experience supporting unionized environments and understanding the impact of collective bargaining agreements on payroll.- Experience leading payroll transformation, process improvement, and change management initiatives.- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.- Experience with Workday Payroll is considered a strong asset.- PCP or PLP designation is considered an asset.
