Our client is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Edge and Mount Technician to join their lens production team in Dartmouth.
This is an excellent opportunity to build a long-term career in optical manufacturing. You will receive hands on training and gain experience across multiple stages of lens production, including tracing, blocking, edging, mounting, and final inspection. Previous experience with lens edging and mounting is an asset, but is not required. Candidates with production, manufacturing, assembly, general labour, or other hands-on experience who are comfortable learning specialized equipment are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, sort, organize, and prepare lenses and eyeglass frames for production
- Read work tickets and prescriptions and route orders to the appropriate workstation
- Inspect and trace eyeglass frames using specialized equipment
- Perform lens blocking using manual and automated equipment
- Operate edging equipment to shape lenses accurately for individual frames
- Determine appropriate bevel positioning based on lens strength and curvature
- Mount and assemble finished lenses into eyeglass frames
- Process specialty orders according to production requirements
- Clean lenses and complete final cosmetic and quality inspections
- Inspect lenses for coating and tint quality
- Calibrate tracing equipment as required
- Assist at different production workstations as needed
- Follow established quality, safety, and production procedures
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in production, manufacturing, assembly, general labour, or another hands-on environment
- Lens edging and mounting experience is an asset, but not required
- Knowledge of lenses, bevels, or eyeglass frames is an asset
- Strong attention to detail and excellent observational skills
- Good manual dexterity and ability to perform precise hands-on work
- Comfortable learning and operating specialized production equipment
- Reliable, organized, and able to follow detailed procedures
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Flexible and willing to perform a variety of production tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
