Position: Accounts Payable Specialist
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
Salary: $32–$36 per hour
Job Type: 12-month contract

Our government based client is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to support financial operations, accounts payable, reporting, compliance, and process improvement. This role is ideal for someone with strong accounting fundamentals who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities:

- Manage full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice processing, expense reports, credit card reconciliations, approvals, and vendor payments.
- Perform month-end activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial reporting.
- Monitor transactions, encumbrances, payment accuracy, and data quality to ensure financial integrity and compliance.
- Prepare financial, HST, management, and ad hoc reports while supporting forecasting and financial analysis.
- Support audits, internal controls, regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement of Procure-to-Pay processes.
- Assist with ERP implementation activities, including UAT, data migration, validation, SOP development, and end-user training.

Qualifications:

- Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
- 3+ years of relevant accounts payable, accounting, or financial management experience
- Experience within a public-sector, provincial agency, or broader public-sector environment is an asset
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable, reconciliations, financial reporting, GAAP, and accounting principles
- Experience with ERP/financial systems such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or QuickBooks
- Strong Excel, analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities
