Position: Assistant Controller
Location: Westmount
Salary: $110K-$125K
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our finance team. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, experience working with U.S.-based entities, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-system environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Play a key role in the migration, implementation, and optimization of financial systems, ensuring data accuracy and alignment across platforms.
- Collaborate closely with U.S.-based entities to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Perform variance analysis and investigate discrepancies to support accurate reporting.
- Support internal controls, accounting policies, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Partner cross-functionally with Finance, IT, and Operations during system transitions.
- Assist with audit preparation and respond to internal and external auditor requests.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and support as required.
Qualifications:
- Accounting certificate, Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Masters or a CPA in progress
- Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience
- Demonstrated experience with financial system migrations or ERP implementations
- Experience working with U.S. companies and cross-border entities
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and internal controls
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ERP experience is a strong asset
