Financial Analyst

Position: Financial Analyst
Location: Toronto – Hybrid (3 days onsite)
Salary: $35 per hour
Job Type: 12-month contract (with potential to convert to Permanent)

We are partnering with a well-established regulatory organization in Ontario. They are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Financial Analyst to join their Finance & Administration team. This role focuses on Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting, providing support for both routine and ad-hoc financial analyses.

Responsibilities:

- Guide and support AR/AP staff in processing transactions in compliance with policies and directives.
- Prepare and process journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Perform AR/AP aging analyses and provide recommendations for process improvements.
- Investigate and apply incoming payments accurately, liaising with internal stakeholders as needed.
- Process supplier invoices, employee reimbursements, and related financial transactions.
- Support collections, reporting, and audit processes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date process documentation and SOPs.
- Prepare periodic financial reports and analyses for management, governance, and ministry reporting.
- Assist with accounting for settlements and sanction orders, including reconciliations and record maintenance.

Qualifications:

- Undergraduate degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field.
- CPA designation or in progress, with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant accounting/finance experience.
- Intermediate Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, reporting, and data analysis).
- Experience with Workday ERP is an asset.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to engage with varied stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work independently or collaboratively as needed.
