Health and Safety Coordinator

Position: Health and Safety Coordinator
Location: Ottawa
Salary: $60K to $80K

Our construction client in Ottawa is looking for a dedicated Health and Safety Coordinator to support safety programs and ensure compliance across multiple active sites. This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about building a strong safety culture.

Please note: Construction industry experience is non-negotiable.

Key Responsibilities:

- Ensure compliance with OHSA, WSIB, and MLITSD regulations.
- Conduct site inspections, hazard assessments, and audits.
- Support development and rollout of safety policies.
- Deliver orientations and training (WHMIS, Working at Heights).
- Investigate incidents and coordinate corrective actions.
- Maintain emergency response plans and PPE inventory.
- Collaborate with site teams and subcontractors.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation.

Qualifications:

- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety
- WSIB JHSC Certification
- Minimum 2 years of construction health & safety experience (required)
- Strong knowledge of OHSA and WSIB requirements
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
- Strong organizational and communication skills
