Salary: $185,000 to $225,000 per year

Our client is building a new AI Innovation team in Toronto and is looking for a Lead Machine Learning Engineer to help design and deliver production-grade AI systems with real business impact.

This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who has taken machine learning systems from concept to production and wants to work on long-term, high-impact AI initiatives rather than short-term experiments.

About the Role:

You will be part of a newly formed AI team working closely with an internal AI lab and senior stakeholders across the business. The team is responsible for building and evolving core analytical models as well as AI-powered tools used by a global workforce.

This role combines deep technical ML work with technical leadership, architecture, and close collaboration with software engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, build, and productionize ML and GenAI systems (including LLM-based solutions).
- Own end-to-end ML lifecycle: data pipelines, model training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
- Work on analytical and data-heavy use cases where model quality and reliability matter.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers to integrate ML models into scalable applications.
- Define ML standards, best practices, and architectural patterns.
- Mentor and guide other ML engineers while remaining hands-on.
- Partner with an internal AI lab on advanced use cases and experimentation.

What We’re Looking For:

- 10+ years of overall experience, with strong depth in machine learning engineering.
- Proven experience building production ML systems, not just research or POCs.
- Strong experience with Python, ML frameworks, and modern ML tooling.
- Hands-on experience with GenAI / LLMs (RAG, fine-tuning, orchestration, evaluation).
- Solid understanding of data, analytics, and model-driven decision systems.
- Experience working in complex, enterprise or data-intensive environments.
- Comfortable operating in a global, distributed team.
