Position: Operations Support (2 openings)
Location: Toronto
Position Purpose:
- Contribute to the daily activities in the distribution centre, adding value and efficiencies to all required operations.- Perform duties at both of our client's facilities located in Toronto, subject to operational requirements.Duties and Responsibilities:
Receiving- Use DVI system to scan items received, by individual barcodes- Scan incoming lenses against open PO’s- Conduct visual package inspection and report anomalies to the supervisor- Receive and place ICS cages and bins in appropriate area- Receive mail and packages and deliver to appropriate departments- Receive Lens/Frames products- Restock lenses- Deal with courier deliveries and deliver to appropriate departmentPicking- Scan all items picked (at 150 location only)- Pick up sales orders from the printer from designated area- Sort and check orders for special instructions and put in basket- Scan sales order number- Proceed to the bin/row location and pick products as per order- Once order has been filled, take order to the billing table for checking and invoicingBilling and Shipping- Match carefully semi-finished and finished lenses with the correct invoice, shipping label and supplies- Package jobs in appropriate shipping boxes- Drop the packages in appropriate designated courier bins- Print out shipping manifests as per each courier’s pick-up time- Consolidate special customer shipments and assist with branch consolidation when needed- Coordinate and pack pick-up orders- Operate and maintain box folding machine- Assist in barcoding and placement of bin boxesMiscellaneous Duties- Receive incoming non-optical products and supplies- Transport products from one unit to another as deemed necessary, as per current manufacturing/warehouse layout- Restock lenses- Operate Fork Lift / Tow motor- Assist with maintaining a clean and safe loading dock area- Work with multiple supervisors and various non-operation departments as necessary- Perform general housekeeping- Perform any other duties as requested by the supervisor in other areas of distribution as necessary- Must be available to work additional hours to ensure all customer orders are shipped same dayRequired Education, Skills and Qualifications:
- High school graduate is the minimum education requirement- Optical background considered a strong asset- Must maintain Tow Motor certification (training will be provided)- Must be a fast learner in order to be able to operate scanners and be able to enter data in multiple computer platforms (DVI, NAV, Shipping Systems, etc.)- Must be able to work in a fast paced, high-volume environment- Must be well organized, accurate, detail oriented, have excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities- Continuous learning is a large part of this position- Must have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)- Must be able to work in a team atmosphere as well as an individual with minimal supervisionPhysical Skill and Effort:
- Standing, walking, reaching and bending constantly throughout the day- Grasping or reaching for lenses in the storage sleeves- Use of step ladders for product that is on higher shelves- Occasional lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling 30 lbs (14 kilos) or lessNote: Employees are required to ask for assistance as situation dictate (i.e.: lifting awkward or heavy boxes, etc.).
