Position: Senior Web Engineer
Location: HQ in Ottawa, ON (Fully Remote across Canada)
Salary: $150,000-$180,000 + benefits, equity, and unlimited vacation
Our client is a fast-growing Canadian startup expanding across Canada and into the United States. They are looking for a Senior Web Engineer to join their Engineering team and play a key role in shaping both the product and the technical direction of the company.
In this role, you will work closely with the co-founders, lead feature development, and contribute to technical decision-making across the stack. You’ll be hands-on in Node.js, React, and React Native, with real ownership over what you build.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead development initiatives from requirements gathering through deployment and release.
- Own backend development using Node.js and Express.
- Drive frontend development with React, focusing on performance and user experience.
- Enhance and scale cloud infrastructure to support growth.
- Promote clean, maintainable code and strong engineering best practices
What We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years of experience shipping user-facing features in production environments
- Proven experience owning and leading product or technical solutions end-to-end
- Comfortable leading technical discussions and contributing to architectural decisions
- Strong experience building server and/or client-side solutions using JavaScript and/or TypeScript
- Ability to work with legacy codebases and manage database schemas
- Experience designing and implementing REST APIs and HTTP clients
- Hands-on experience with React/React Native and/or Node.js with Express
- Previous experience in a startup or fast-paced, results-driven environment is a strong asset
