Salary: Up to $130,000 with flexibility based on experience

We are seeking a Workday SME / HR Systems Lead for a 12-month contract engagement. This is not an implementation-focused role. Rather, we are looking for a true Workday subject matter expert with deep hands-on knowledge of Workday HCM and Recruitment, and the ability to assess issues, troubleshoot effectively, and recommend practical solutions within a tenant-based environment.

This position serves as a critical bridge between the business and the parent company, which retains ownership of Workday configuration. The successful candidate will act as the primary liaison to evaluate system-related issues, identify workarounds, recommend enhancements, and help guide change requests through the appropriate channels.

Key Responsibilities:

- Serve as the Workday subject matter expert and primary point of triage for HR systems-related issues.
- Diagnose system challenges and recommend appropriate workarounds, improvements, or enhancements.
- Translate business needs and system requirements to the parent company and external Workday support team.
- Support the optimization and effective use of the HCM, Total Rewards, and Recruitment modules.
- Partner closely with internal stakeholders and provide leadership to a small team, including two direct reports.

Qualifications:

- Deep, hands-on expertise in Workday, with strong knowledge of HCM, Total Rewards and Recruitment
- Clear understanding of a tenant-based model where configuration is owned externally
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues, assess business needs, and guide solutions without direct configuration access
- Experience working with external, shared-service, or parent-company Workday teams
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills
