The Senior Director of Development is a strategic and technical leadership role responsible for driving engineering excellence, delivery predictability, and organizational effectiveness across teams building customer-driven core products. This role ensures strong alignment between engineering execution and product strategy while maintaining high standards for system quality, scalability, and reliability. With scope expected to grow across multiple product lines, the role requires the ability to scale teams, processes, and technical direction in a cohesive and sustainable way.

Key Responsibilities:

- Own and drive end-to-end delivery across multiple engineering teams, ensuring predictability, quality, and operational readiness.

- Translate product roadmap priorities into actionable engineering plans, including capacity modeling and delivery sequencing.
- Establish and enforce best practices for estimation, planning, dependency management, and risk mitigation.
- Provide clear, consistent visibility into delivery progress, risks, and tradeoffs to senior stakeholders.
- Lead architectural discussions and contribute to system design and long-term technical strategy.
- Ensure alignment with platform standards, shared services, and engineering best practices across teams.
- Oversee system performance, scalability, security, and proactive management of technical debt.
- Guide teams through modernization initiatives while maintaining delivery commitments.
- Build, mentor, and manage high-performing engineering leaders and teams, including hiring and performance management.
- Drive consistency and operational excellence across multiple product lines, managing cross-team dependencies and alignment.

Key Qualifications:

- 12+ years of experience in software engineering, building and operating complex SaaS platforms.

- 6+ years in engineering leadership roles managing multiple teams or product areas.
- Proven track record of owning and delivering large-scale, multi-team engineering initiatives.
- Strong technical expertise in system architecture, design patterns, and scalable distributed systems.
- Experience with modern frontend technologies such as React and TypeScript.
- Experience with backend development using Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with product and cross-functional stakeholders to drive outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts, risks, and tradeoffs to executive audiences.
