Our client is seeking an experienced Safety Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide temporary coverage. This role is responsible for leading and delivering occupational health and safety programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing expert safety guidance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary safety expert, advising leaders and employees on occupational health & safety matters
- Develop, review, and maintain safety policies, programs, and procedures
- Interpret and apply health & safety legislation; prepare safety and legislative update communications
- Support hazard identification, risk assessment, incident investigation, and corrective actions
- Develop and support safety training and awareness initiatives
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline
- Proven experience as a health & safety professional or subject matter expert
- Strong knowledge of occupational health & safety legislation and compliance
- Excellent written communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Preferred:
- Safety certifications (e.g., CRSP, CSP, NEBOSH) and experience supporting emergency management initiatives
