Position: Workers' Compensation Specialist

Our client, a specialized boutique consulting firm, is seeking a Senior WSIB Consultant / Workers' Compensation Specialist to join its growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with employers across a variety of industries, providing expert guidance on workers' compensation claims, disability management, return-to-work programs, appeals, and compliance matters. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to clients, helping manage claim costs, improve return-to-work outcomes, and navigate complex WSIB legislation and policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage WSIB claims and return-to-work (RTW) programs for employers across Ontario and other Canadian jurisdictions
- Act as the primary liaison between employers, the WSIB, healthcare practitioners, and other stakeholders
- Conduct claim entitlement reviews and provide written recommendations regarding claim strategy, adjudication, and appeals
- Initiate timely interventions and follow-ups to improve claim outcomes and reduce lost-time costs
- Prepare objections, submissions, and appeal documentation as required
- Advise employers on WSIB legislation, policy interpretation, compliance obligations, and risk management strategies
- Support both Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 employers with account-related matters, including classification, experience rating, premiums, and cost recovery opportunities
- Monitor legislative and policy changes and provide strategic guidance to clients
- Assist employers in navigating complex workplace injury, disability, and accommodation matters
- Maintain accurate case documentation and prepare client reports as required
Requirements:
- Licensed Paralegal or Lawyer in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- Minimum 3 years of experience in workers' compensation, WSIB consulting, disability management, legal advocacy, or a related field
- Extensive knowledge of WSIB legislation, policies, procedures, and appeals processes
- Demonstrated experience managing complex claims and return-to-work programs
- Strong understanding of employer obligations, entitlement decisions, and claim cost management strategies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience representing employers in WSIB matters
- Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety and Human Rights legislation
- Experience supporting both Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 employers
- Consulting or client-facing experience is considered a strong asset
