We're looking for a Senior Commodity Buyer to take full ownership of a critical commodity portfolio, with a strong focus on steel, aluminum, metals, and glass. This is more than a purchasing role—it's an opportunity to influence sourcing strategy, build long-term supplier partnerships, monitor commodity markets, and drive cost savings while ensuring uninterrupted supply for a fast-paced manufacturing operation.

If you're someone who understands commodity markets, develops sourcing strategies instead of simply placing purchase orders, and enjoys solving complex supply chain challenges, we'd love to hear from you.

- Work closely with Production, Engineering, Planning, and Operations to influence key business decisions
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier negotiations
- Join a collaborative manufacturing environment where your contributions have a direct impact on business success

What you'll be doing:

- Own the sourcing strategy for key commodities including steel, aluminum, glass, and other direct materials
- Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans that support cost, quality, delivery, and long-term supply continuity
- Build and manage strong relationships with both domestic and international suppliers
- Lead RFQs, supplier negotiations, contract management, and long-term agreements
- Monitor commodity markets, pricing trends, tariffs, and global supply risks to proactively support the business
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities while improving supplier performance
- Partner with Production, Engineering, Planning, and Quality to ensure material availability and support production schedules
- Manually track inventory and material movement to ensure production continuity and inventory accuracy
- Maintain purchasing records, reporting, and cost analysis using ERP systems and advanced Excel

What we're looking for:

- 5-7+ years of commodity buying experience within a manufacturing environment
- Proven experience purchasing steel, aluminum, metals, and/or glass is required
- Demonstrated success developing and executing strategic sourcing initiatives
- Experience sourcing from both North American and international suppliers
- Hands-on experience with tariff mitigation and navigating cross-border sourcing challenges
- Strong negotiation, supplier relationship management, and contract administration skills
- Experience managing long lead-time commodities and developing sourcing strategies
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, reporting, and data analysis) are required
- ERP/MRP experience (JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle, or similar) is considered an asset
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
