Position: Complex Accounting Manager

Salary: $120K-$140K per year + Annual Bonus

We are seeking a seasoned Accounting Manager to join a large and well-established real estate group that develops, builds, and manages properties across Canada and the U.S. This is a high-impact role where you’ll be the go-to expert for complex transactions and accounting issues, help implement new standards, coordinate audits across multiple entities, and guide business units on the right accounting treatment.
You’ll also lead a small team responsible for accurate, timely financial statements and reports, so it’s part hands-on technical expert, part people leader.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee complex accounting matters, from planning through final review.
- Assess financial transactions and resolve technical accounting issues.
- Monitor new accounting requirements and lead their implementation.
- Serve as a technical resource for Finance and other internal teams.
- Investigate accounting concerns and identify ways to improve processes.
- Manage external audit activities across multiple entities.
- Develop strong working relationships with Finance and business stakeholders.
- Lead process changes and support automation of financial reporting.
- Guide the accounting team to deliver accurate, timely financial statements and reports.
- Manage competing priorities and ensure deadlines are met.
Requirements:
- Canadian Chartered Accountant Designation, or International designation while pursuing the Canadian CPA.
- 8+ years of progressive financial leadership, able to build, manage and develop teams of Finance Professionals.
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS.
- Ability to resolve complex accounting problems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, highly analytical.
- Experience with ERP software.
- Background within public practice and / or real estate highly preferred.
- Familiarity with NewStar, Yardi or OneStream preferred.
