Position: Mammography Technologist (MRT)
Location: Toronto
Salary: $45 – $52 per hour
Posting Type: Open vacancy

Quantum is supporting a client in downtown Toronto that is seeking an experienced Mammography Technologist (MRT) to join its in-clinic imaging team on a part-time basis up to 2 days per week to start with an opportunity for more days as the clinic ramps up.

The Opportunity

This is a physician-led clinic where patient service comes first. You'll perform 2D digital and 3D tomosynthesis mammography as part of comprehensive preventive health assessments, working closely with the physician team so every exam is technically excellent and every patient feels informed, respected, and cared for. The clinic has modern digital and tomosynthesis equipment in a private, purpose-built imaging suite, and appointments are unhurried so you can be thorough and present with each patient. For many patients a mammogram is as much an emotional experience as a clinical one, and this role suits someone who pairs technical precision with real warmth.

What You'll Do:

- Perform screening and diagnostic mammography using 2D digital and 3D digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT), following CMRITO standards, CAMRT best practices, and applicable provincial guidelines.
- Position patients and apply breast compression with precision and care, maximizing image quality while minimizing discomfort and radiation dose (ALARA).
- Use tomosynthesis-specific positioning and compression techniques, and stay current on DBT acquisition protocols, reconstruction modes, and evolving breast imaging standards.
- Acquire additional views (MLO, CC, spot compression, magnification) as clinically indicated.
- Review each image set in real time for technical quality, completeness, and positioning before release, correcting technique as needed.
- Greet patients, confirm identity, verify the imaging request, and review clinical history, symptoms, and contraindications before each exam.
- Explain the procedure clearly and compassionately, address questions and anxiety, and keep patients informed throughout.
- Provide sensitive, unhurried care, especially for patients who are anxious, symptomatic, or having a first mammogram, while protecting privacy and dignity.
- Perform daily, weekly, and periodic QC tests on mammography equipment as required by regulatory standards and manufacturer protocols, keeping accurate logs.
- Make sure equipment is calibrated, working well, and compliant with radiation safety regulations.
- Coordinate maintenance, servicing, and troubleshooting with the operations team and manufacturer support.
- Follow infection control protocols and keep the imaging suite clean and organized.
- Communicate imaging findings to physicians, nurse practitioners, and the care team, and flag urgent or suspicious results.
- Escalate significant findings, including masses, architectural distortion, suspicious calcifications, and asymmetries, to the reviewing physician promptly and professionally.
- Document procedures, QC records, and imaging data accurately and promptly in the clinic's EHR and digital imaging systems (PACS).
- Help develop and refine breast imaging protocols, patient education materials, and diagnostic workflows.

What You'll Need:

- Registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
- Current CAMRT membership and completed CAMRT Mammography Certificates (Mammography 1 and 2), or equivalent
- Minimum 2–3 years of clinical mammography experience in a screening clinic, hospital-based breast health program, or private imaging setting
- Proficiency in both 2D full-field digital mammography (FFDM) and 3D digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT)
- Current BLS/BCLS certification
- Proficiency with digital imaging systems, PACS, and EHR platforms
- Excellent interpersonal skills: warm, professional, and sensitive, especially with patients screening for the first time or after a clinical concern
- Meticulous attention to positioning accuracy, image quality, and protocol adherence
