Position: Full Stack / AI Software Engineering Lead (Java and React)
Location: Downtown Toronto, ON (Hybrid - 2 days onsite)
Salary: $200K base ++ and bonus

Our client, a leader in fintech space, is building out a senior engineering group in Toronto and is looking for very senior, hands-on Full Stack Engineering Leads to work on AI-driven systems. These roles sit at the intersection of modern software engineering and applied AI, and are designed for engineers who want to stay deeply technical while shaping how AI is used in real production environments.
There are two tracks available, depending on background and interest:
- Greenfield / Innovation track - building net-new, AI-forward systems from the ground up
- Enterprise / Platform track - modernizing large-scale platforms and integrating AI into mission-critical applications
Your new role:
You will design and build full-stack applications using modern Java and React, influence architectural decisions, and collaborate closely with product and business stakeholders. Depending on fit, you may work in highly experimental, greenfield environments or in more structured enterprise platforms, both with meaningful AI integration and strong leadership visibility.
Key requirements:
- 15+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
- Must have proven technical and team leadership experience
- Strong full-stack software development expertise using Java / Spring Boot + React
- Proven system design and architectural experience
- Proven experience applying AI, GenAI, LLMs, or intelligent automation
- Cloud-native experience, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes
- Comfortable staying hands-on while operating at a senior leadership level
