Great news! Quantum is proud to partner with an amazing client in the manufacturing sector located in Concord, Ontario to hire an Operations Manager with union / labour relations exposure to join their team. This role reports to the General Manager and will be responsible for utilizing functional leadership, technical knowledge and communication skills to ensure customers receive a quality product, while meeting on time performance goals and continually striving to improve operational efficiencies and overall performance. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Plan, direct and coordinate the manufacturing of products to deliver on target results for key performance metrics, quality, cost/productivity, safety, Lean/5S, Inventory and on-time delivery

Support your team by assisting with production scheduling, prioritizing work, troubleshooting, resolving problems and adjusting labor allocation to ensure daily and weekly production targets are achieved
- Promote health and safety philosophies and processes that reduce workplace injuries and environmental impact
- Manage employee performance to develop a strong and effective team by providing coaching and feedback in a timely manner, communicate performance expectations and measurable goals for direct reports to identify strengths and development opportunities
- Drive a daily operation focus that maximizes the effectiveness of the facility and promotes collaborative problem solving on the team level
- Lead the quality team to exceed customer expectations and timely follow up on quality matters to delivery top performing quality metrics
- Oversee production planning to optimize the production schedule as required, accommodating for changes in customer demands and material supply
- Support front line supervisory by developing and following up on action plans, investigations solutions and advising on decision making
- Advance a culture of continuous improvements by applying lead manufacturing, 5S and other appropriate techniques
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the key business partners outside of Production not limited to HR, Logistics, Maintenance and Customer Service. Utilize these relationships to drive cross-functional improvement opportunities in a productive manner
- Review and approve time off requests and scheduling for direct reports, ensuring appropriate coverage is available for production needs
- Review job methods, ISO Procedures and workflow instructions to improve efficiency and quality of work
- Lead initiatives for employee involvement and engagement. Provide visible leadership on the plant floor
- Focus on results and achieve shipment goals (revenue and Order Fill Rates)
- Drive superior customer service (on time delivery and responsiveness)

Promote and drive compliance to all standard operating procedures

Qualifications:

-
Post-Secondary Degree in a related field, e.g. Manufacturing, Engineering, etc.
- 7+ years of experience in a similar role of hands on manufacturing supervision or management level experience, with a demonstrated ability to lead people
- Exposure to Metal Fabrication, Stamping Type of Manufacturing environment and equipment is highly desired
- Previous experience implementing and/or streamlining KPIs and metrics to drive operational results
- Proficient in MS Office suite, MS Excel, Power BI, ERP software and other reporting tools
- Exposure to working within a unionized environment is required
- Demonstrated experience in lean manufacturing techniques and process improvements
- Experience working with planning and production scheduling highly desirable
- Exceptional leadership presence and decision-making skills to motivate, influence and train people
- Lean practices and tools – able to move from the theoretical to practical implementation
- Able to interact with a variety of company functions and diverse groups of personalities
- Solids interpersonal skills and communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to interact with customers
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced, high growth industry, willing to be hands on and take initiative
- Data driven with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- High sense of urgency
- Ability to work other shifts for vacation or OT coverage occasionally, as needed
